Avocado banana smoothie for kids and adults alike is a tasty, quick to make beverage which is vegan with health benefits
While I was away from the blog, I received quite a few emails asking for Kids Zone recipes. Kids Zone blog was an extension of Sailu’s food blog where I posted kid-friendly recipes that I made for my son, Nehal. Unfortunately, due to technical issues, we lost most of Kids Zone content. Keeping in view of your repeated requests for kids recipes, I will post a few the old recipes from Kids Zone blog. I will also post new recipes that I prepare for Nehal.
I want to post whatever food I make for Nehal on a daily basis, be it breakfast, snacks or evening tiffin. But due to time constraints, I am unable to do so. This month, I will give it a try and see if I can include a section on the blog where I can post an image of Nehal’s daily food (any one meal of the day) followed by the recipe. These meals will usually be egg-based dishes, sandwiches, wraps, smoothies and shakes, quick snacks and breakfast recipes.
There are numerous requests for pregnancy and post-pregnancy food recipes, toddler food, infant care and home remedies for minor ailments among children. I am not sure if I can do justice to these aspects. But I will try to address a few requests based on my own experience as and when time permits. 🙂
Summertime smoothies that are filling and cooling
The hot season is upon us and its time for summer coolers, and smoothies. One of our family friends brought few avocados grown in their backyard in Uganda. All of us at home are fond of avocados. Most times I make an avocado shake or avocado banana shake similar to the ones sold by the street vendors in Ooty, Kodaikanal, and Mysore. I also use avocados to make a spread for wraps, salad, and guacamole.
The avocado fruit goes by the name makhanphal or butter fruit in India. I personally do not like to add any other fruit to the avocado fruit smoothie. I like it plain with a dash of cinnamon and date syrup to sweeten it. Garnish with bloomed sweet basil seeds and crushed nuts of your choice and your summer morning smoothie is done in less than 5 mins. If you want to thin down your smoothie, add milk that is boiled and cooled. Those who are lactose intolerant can omit the milk and use fresh coconut water, soy or almond milk. That makes it a vegan avocado banana smoothie. Add a dash of cinnamon powder which adds a lovely flavor to the avocado banana smoothie.
3 Health Benefits Of Avocado Smoothie
Avocado is a cooling fruit.
This buttery textured fruit has health-promoting polyphenols.
Makhanphal also has high dietary fiber content.
It is rich in anti-oxidants.
And it has the highest monounsaturated fatty acid, a healthy good fat.
If you add a fruit with pulp, it lends good flavor and improves the texture of the smoothie. Fruits like strawberry, pineapple, apple, papaya give it a velvety creamy texture. An avocado smoothie is a delicious way to get your dose of energy-boosting protein and healthy fats. It is glutenfree, dairy free, heart healthy, high fiber, low carb and perfect for those of you following a weight loss program. A simple clean eating, avocado banana smoothie recipe out there that is vibrant, refreshing, and simply awesome.
